A Baseball Story

Genre: Sports
Whether created by playwrights, Ebook writers, or film screenwriters, most well written baseball stories involve far more then baseball, the game merely serving as backdrop to where the main emphasis is placed – on the characters’ lives. Such is the case with the briskly paced novella, A Baseball Story.
The reader will meet Danny, a troubled young boy with a fondness for profanity. All he longs for is to not be the worst player on his baseball team. So, he attends practice after practice, and although his coaches try their very best to help him improve, the game proves to be far too difficult for him to master.
Perched high up in the grandstand at most of these practices is Walter, an older man who enjoys the game when played in its purest form. He takes an interest in the young man, detecting possible talent buried deep beneath the surface. So, Walter sets out to teach Danny the fundamentals of the game and possibly about life, amid initial reservations from the boy’s mother and violent opposition from his abusive stepfather.
